Shock & Aww came about when Ashley and Sarah were attending a performance of Peter Pan together. Sarah was bemoaning the lack of bookstores in Orlando and mentioned that their co-author had suggested they open one themself and Ashley said, “…why don’t we?”
And Shock & Aww was born.
This shop is a reflection of our friendship: two besties who have completely opposite tastes in books but bond over our similarities and our differences.
Meet Ashley
Shock
Ashley is a fiercely loyal Scorpio vegetarian with a deep love for the Muppets and horror movies. She’s watched CSI more than any human should and has no qualms about looking silly in public. Outside of reading, she spends her time making costumes, thrifting, and doom scrolling against the advice of her therapist.
Meet Sarah
Aww
Sarah is an imaginative and optimistic Sagittarius who spends all of their time at home. They write queer historical fantasy of the cozy variety and dream of someday making a living with their books. Outside of reading, she watches old movies, bakes, and drinks tea while romanticizing life.
